The parks quietly getting less busy — an underrated list of places with room to breathe.

Most park coverage is about the crowded winners. But some parks have seen visitation fall over the past decade — and for a traveler, that is not bad news. It is opportunity.

A park with declining visitation is a park with shorter lines, easier permits and more availability. Several below are genuinely excellent and simply under the radar.
